Dovetail Joinery Project

In my furniture design class we were assigned a type of joinery and had to research it, write a paper on it, make autocad drawings of the joint, create a display board for it, and a model of the joint.

Furniture Transformation "Before" Pictures

I will be stripping and sanding the piece, then refinishing it in a dark stain, similar to the current color with a semi gloss seal. The recessed areas that currently have an egg and dart detail will be updated by the application of mosaic tile in the recessed areas. The top door will be turned into a drawer and the bottom door will be removed. I will insert dividers into the bottom opening making it into a wine rack. I will post pictures throughout the transformation process.

September 6, 2011

I am currently 3 weeks into the Fall semester and loving my classes. I am learning many new things and enjoying new projects. I am currently working on updating a furniture piece, a Sephora pop-up store design, and a multistoried commercial space in Revit in addition to some art history courses. I also have the exciting opportunity to help redesign some areas of a campus residential hall. The school invited 6 students (3 interior design students and some student affairs members) to form a committee to make design selections for new living and working spaces in the Houts residence hall. I am very excited about this project and grateful to be one of the students asked to participate. Thank you for looking, have a great day!

July 4, 2011

Over this long weekend I was finally able to get some more work done on my blog. I also finished my Honors Project Proposal and will be submitting it this week for approval. I haven't gotten started on any new interior design projects, I will begin some new stuff once I complete summer classes this week and have extra time to do some designing! Thanks for looking and Happy 4th of July!
